FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Traditionally, Reiki sessions are done in person.
This is perfect for folks who work with Reiki for the first time, as you can receive the full experience of the treatment & the space.

Long distance Reiki is for folks who have busy schedule, or just find it tough to hop on the ferry and head to Vancouver Islands.
We are working with energy, as such physical distance don't affect the healing benefits.

Our companions are very sensitive to energy & they can connect with Reiki easily.

MY LINEAGE
I learn from 3 traditions of Reiki: Jikiden Reiki, Usui/Holy Fire® Reiki, and Karuna Reiki®. Among the many students of Mikao Usui sensei, who developed this Reiki healing system in the early 20s, Chujiro Hayashi sensei was the key student who brought Reiki into wider practice. Two of his students, Chiyoko Yamaguchi sensei and Hawayo Takata sensei, were also instrumental in passing the torch and bringing this practice to the world.
Here I'll take a shot at summarizing the traditions I follow:
-
Jikiden Reiki (website)
-
Developed by Chiyoko Yamaguchi sensei (Kyoto, Japan). Many of her family members learned and practiced Reiki with Hayashi sensei
-
After World War II (1945), many traditional practices in Japan became restricted, and Reiki was largely kept private after World War II (1945). Gradually, Reiki in Japan became pretty much radio silent while, at the same time, was spreading far in the West
-
Over time, some Western practitioners became interested in reconnecting with the roots of Reiki. The search wasn't easy (we are talking pre-Google era) and only by the late 80s, a few researchers were able to get in touch with practitioners in Japan. In 1999, Chiyoko sensei was discovered and when she decided to teach, she named her lineage "Jikiden Reiki".
-
"Jikiden" means "directly passed down". Chiyoko sensei and her family aimed to preserve the original structure of Hayashi sensei's teachings and the simplicity of the practice
-
-
Usui/Holy Fire® (website)
-
Developed by William Lee Rand (Hawaii, US), who have learned Reiki from various lineages and does extensive research on its origins.
-
In 2014, through one of his regular meditation sessions, a cosmic healing energy introduced itself as Holy Fire, and let him know that it can be incorporated into Reiki training. William then took some time to experiment on this energy before integrating it into his teachings
-
This system is built on the foundation of the original Reiki, with the introduction of Holy Fire (read more here). Many practitioners describe it as more active or dynamic, compared to the traditional Usui Reiki
-
The energy has the ability to upgrade over time to correspond with the relevant flows of our collective energy, world events, etc. , and practitioners automatically would receive the upgrades. I find this really neat!
-
-
Karuna Reiki® (information)
-
William Lee Rand was one of the developers of this system, which was introduced in the 90s. They where guided to name this tradition "Karuna", meaning compassion in Sanskrit. It lives up to its name: this practice is great for cultivating true compassion toward oneself and for others
-
This tradition is considered advanced for aligning the practitioners with their life purposes and healing deeper layers of Self, including long-held beliefs and past imprints. If you are ready for a soulful purification, this can be a nice support for you
-
With Holy Fire tradition, practitioners is ready to learn Karuna Reiki only after they have completed their Master training
-
Reiki is Reiki. All the traditions of Reiki work around the foundation of this healing energy once gifted to Usui sensei. I follow my lineages but I respect all the other lineages. My teachers are amazing. They are powerful healers and they are dedicated to their teachings. They inspire me a lot, and I feel so humbled whenever I talk with them. I can imagine all the devoted Reiki teachers out there doing the similar things, perhaps with different methods and approaches, but working toward the similar goals.
